Don’t suffer in silence, if your child has a genuine requirement for educational support and you are struggling to navigate or understand the fragmented support network, take a deep breath.
At MySENsability, we understand that parenting a child with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) can be a challenging and often overwhelming journey — especially when it comes to navigating the complex world of educational systems, legal entitlements, and local authority processes.
Our mission is to empower families by offering compassionate, informed, and practical advocacy services that help parents and carers make sense of their rights, understand available support pathways, and ensure that their child receives the education and care they are entitled to.
Our advocacy support is designed to guide parents and guardians through the often-confusing landscape of SEND provision. Many families feel lost or unheard when trying to access appropriate educational support for their children. MySENsability bridges that gap by offering expert advice, signposting to relevant services, and — where necessary — representing parents in conversations with schools, local authorities, and other professional bodies.
Whether you’re at the start of your SEND journey or further along but feeling frustrated, isolated, or unsure of what to do next, MySENsability is here to help you feel informed, confident, and supported.
Thanks to dedicated funding, MySENsability is able to offer a range of free and low-cost advocacy services to families across the Wigan borough and beyond. Our work is grounded in real-world experience — not just as professionals, but as parents and carers who have walked this path ourselves.
Our support includes:
1:1 Advocacy Sessions: Helping you prepare for meetings, understand documentation, and express your child’s needs clearly and confidently.
Educational Support Guidance: Breaking down legal entitlements, EHCP processes, SEN Support, exclusions, and other key areas.
Representation and Accompaniment: Attending school or LA meetings with you to ensure your child’s rights and needs are properly understood and respected.
Signposting to Services: Linking you with trusted organisations, professionals, and support networks who can help you and your family thrive.
Workshops and Training: Helping parents become effective advocates in their own right, with easy-to-understand tools and strategies.
Without the right information and support, many parents find themselves pushed from pillar to post, unclear on what their child is entitled to, or feeling powerless when things go wrong. Advocacy can be life-changing — it levels the playing field, gives families a voice in the process, and holds schools and local authorities to account.
Our aim is not only to support families through individual challenges but to equip them with the knowledge and confidence to move forward independently.
No two SEND journeys are the same. That’s why our approach is always tailored to your child’s specific needs and your family’s unique circumstances. We don’t offer generic advice — we listen carefully, work collaboratively, and act with care and professionalism at every step.
Our support is confidential, impartial, and always centred around what’s best for your child.
If you’re feeling confused, concerned, or simply unsure where to begin, please know you are not alone. MySENsability is here to help. Whether you’re looking for one-off advice or more ongoing support, we encourage you to reach out.
Together, we can help ensure your child’s needs are not only recognised — but respected.
